Melksham & District Link is a registered charity run entirely by volunteers.
We do not receive financial help from any government bodies or agencies.
For the scheme to continue running we rely on donations from our clients to cover
the cost of the journey.
Our drivers are reimbursed with a fuel allowance to cover the cost of using
their own vehicles; we use the non-taxable rate set by the
government which is currently 45p per mile.
Melksham & District Link also have other running expenses such as
telephone costs and stationery.
'While no direct charge is made by Wiltshire Link Schemes for the service they deliver,
they do depend on the donations they receive in order to continue to operate.’
This is the underlying ethos of all the Wiltshire Link Schemes.
If you are in receipt of certain benefits, you may be able to claim some or all
of your travel costs from the hospital you are attending?
Called the “Healthcare Travel Costs Scheme” information is available
on the government's website. Clicking on the link below will take you there.
This could help fund your donation to Link, and help Link to maintain the service
we provide. Many clients will ask how much should I give?
Clients will give what they can afford or deem a satisfactory amount.
When you use our service, the driver will give you a brown envelope into
which you may place your donation, which will be handed to our Treasurer.
The driver will be happy to tell you the actual length of the journey.
Should you wish to make a donation to Melksham Link,
please contact the duty coordinator, who will assist you.
